Bishop Hughes To Meet with Lay Members

Tuesday, May 19
Bishop Carlye J. Hughes

Bishop Hughes is eager to spend time in conversation with the members of the diocese, to reflect and consider what we, our churches, and our communities have learned and experienced as we have adjusted to the changes this time has demanded of us.  On Tuesday, May 19 at 6pm she will host a Zoom Conference for all members of Holy Spirit Verona and our South Central cluster of churches.  Login information will be shared via email.

Easter Sunday 2020 in Extraordinary Time Photos

Easter Sunday Virch

On Easter Sunday, April 12, 2020, we were in our fifth week of virtual church (aka Virch).  The community gathered via a video conferencing platform (Zoom) to pray, sing and celebrate resurrection.  Enjoy the photos and be sure to read the captions (hover over the photo to see captions).  Jesus Christ is risen!  The Lord is risen indeed!  Alleluia!

Mental Health Resources During Pandemic

Bishop Hughes is leading the charge in the Diocese to remind us to fully take care of ourselves during this time of physical distancing. Doing what is required for your body, mind and spirit is crucial.  We hope that you will stay connected with other Holy Spiriters and be supported by a loving community.  On the Diocesan website you can view Bishop Hughes vlog (video blog) where she emphasizes "there is no shame in asking for help."  Click here or see below for resources.

Holy Week 2020: Stay Connected

Tamasik Photo

During the first Sunday in Lent (March 1) I asked the question, “What will be different?”  It was my way to remind us to do something intentional for this season when we focus on looking inward.  I had no idea, at the time, that on the second Sunday in Lent (March 8) we would be forced to discourage hugs and handshakes, and on the third Sunday (March 15) we would be “fasting from public worship.”  [Click here or photo to read more.]

***VIRTUAL*** Vestry Meeting

Monday, April 20

The Vestry Committee typically meets on the second Monday of the month.  Because of Easter, we will gather on the third Monday, April 20 at 7:30pm and will meet via Zoom Conferencing.  Logon information will be emailed to Vestry Members.

Worship Update - Password Required

Zoom Technology has informed it's customers that effective tomorrow, April 5, all meetings will require a Password in order to sign on.  This is due to hackers who have been "dropping" in on groups unannounced and sharing inappropriate things or hate speech.  You will now need a weblink that has the Password embedded within it, OR the actual Password.  To obtain this password, email or someone you know in the congregation.  Stay safe!

Virch - Virtual Church Sunday Worship

At Holy Spirit Verona, we continue to "fast from public worship" in order to maintain physical distancing.  Everyone is invited to attend an 8am or 10am service on Sunday via a Zoom (online video) Conference.  For those without access to a computer or camera, a phone number is provided from which a person could listen to the service.  We hope that you will consider joining us virtually.  Click photo (or see below) for Login Information.

***VIRTUAL*** Welcome Committee Meeting

Monday, March 30

The Welcome/New Member Committee will gather via Zoom on Monday, March 30 at 7pm.  Logon information will be sent directly to members of the Committee.

A Message Our Bishop - March 21

Here is a section of Bishop Hughes's statment: As of this week, all churches in the Diocese of Newark are directed to refrain from public worship. Additionally, all churches will fast from meetings and gatherings in the diocese for the duration of this health crisis. While we do not know when this crisis will end, it seems certain that it will not end before Holy Week and Easter.  For the full statement click on blue DON crest or read below.
