Youth & Young Adult Mission Trip

Eight adventurous and giving individuals will travel to Grace House on the Mountain in St. Paul, VA for a week (July 14-21, 2018) of manual labor and experiencing caring for another.  They will share meals together and enjoy a little bit of down time later in the week.  Please pray for these individuals as they do the work God has given us to do.

Verona Interfaith Dinner

Holy Spirit Verona was a part of an interfaith meal on Saturday, June 9 with four Verona houses of worship.  Read about the event in an article written by Father Jerry for the Diocesan E-newsletter, The Voice, or on myVeronaNJ

Outdoor Worship 2016

Additional Summer Service Added

Are you away on weekends in the Summer?  The Worship and Program (W&P) Committee has determined that we will offer a mid-week service using the readings for the upcoming Sunday.  On Thursdays at 7pm in July (and August if enough people attend in July) a Eucharist Service will be celebrated either outdoors (weather permitting) or in our historic Chapel.  Consider attending and bring a friend!

Yard Sale

On Saturday, September 15 from 9am to 3pm we will host a multi-family Yard Sale on the grounds of the Church.  The event will happen rain or shine.  As of July 1, we can accept donations on Sundays from 11am to 1pm or by appointment.  For questions, contact office@holyspiritverona.org.  Items we are not accepting are: clothes, shoes, carseats, playpens, baby carriers, computers and Christmas lights.

Jackals Outing 2015

Outing to Jackals Game

Join us on Saturday, July 28 at Yogi Berra Stadium on the campus of Montclair State University for the 6:05pm baseball game of the NJ Jackals vs. the Rockland Boulders.  If interested, sign up in the Fellowship Hall, speak with Patti Walsh or meet us at the stadium.

Jacob and God

Will You Wrestle With Me?

“When the man saw that he did not prevail against Jacob, he touched his hip socket, and Jacob's hip was put out of joint as he wrestled with him.” – Genesis 32:25

Will you wrestle with me? by Father Jerry (FJ) Racioppi

Probably not a question you would expect me to ask, but you are sure to know that I am not speaking about physical wrestling.  My question really is: Will you let me walk with you as we wrestle with faith together?

Holy Spirit Verona Mission Trip 2018

Being A Beloved Community of Active Citizens

In July 2017, I joined eleven Verona residents on a Mission Trip to Grace House on the Mountain in St. Paul, VA.  This Episcopal Church sponsored organization hosts groups of caring individuals weeks at a time to complete construction projects in the surrounding towns and neighborhoods.  Grace House is owned and operated by the Diocese of SW Virginia, but is open to any group of active citizens wanting to make a difference.

Welcome to Church of the Holy Spirit!

map

The red door on an Episcopal (Anglican) Church is traditionally a sign of welcome. Come through the door, and you'll discover that we are a multi-generational, family-centered church. Our congregation worships together, supports each other in times of trouble, celebrates together, and does God’s work in the world.  We are open, welcoming, and inclusive. We invite you to join us.

Finding Holy Spirit

The Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit is located at 36 Gould Street, Verona, and is one block north of Bloomfield Avenue. It is directly across the street from the H.B. Whitehorne Middle School track.

Park in the parking lot and come in the red door. Before each service, you are likely to find our rector standing on the sidewalk or front steps to greet you.
