Grateful and Proud

by Jerry A. Racioppi

Early on in my time as rector at Holy Spirit Verona I was told about a Mission Trip that Holy Spirit Verona sponsored to Grace House on the Mountain in St. Paul, VA.  Although an Episcopal Church sponsored site, I was not familiar with it.  Several of the Holy Spirit parishioners raved about their experience at Grace House.  My second summer (2016) at Holy Spirit, we considered doing a Mission Trip, but we felt we did not have the momentum to have a decent attendance.

Hope Gardens

We've begun a joint community garden with Holy Innocents, West Orange.  The plan is that some of the produce grown in Hope Gardens will be given out monthly at our Food Pantry.  If you would like to volunteer to help with regular gardening tasks or plan for the expansion, please email Catherine Tamasik.

"This is my home. All of the activities, all of what we see at church are a collective effort of putting our faith into action. We don’t see any bystanders here; everyone participates. It’s a humbling and wonderful experience to be part of this community.”  - Member since 1985

Animal Blessings 2018 Photos

We once again hosted our annual Blessing of the Animals during our 10am worship.  To celebrate the Feast of Saint Francis, we transferred the October 4 holiday to Sunday, October 7.  Many pets and photos of pets were blessed and we were reminded of all of God's creatures great and small.

On Sunday, December 9 after Worship, join us as we decorate the Church for Christmas.  Help us green the windows and other parts of the church as we prepare for the Pageant & Christmas Eve services.

In addition, we will have a potluck lunch so bring your favorite dish to share.  Sunday School students will rehearse for the Christmas Pageant at 11:30am on this day.

Kitchen Conversations: Liturgy of the Ordinary

Sunday, December 9
Kitchen Conversations

Join us as we pause to intentionally prepare for Advent together.  We will gather in the lower level kitchen for a Pre-Advent Spiritual Enrichment series using "Liturgy of the Ordinary" by Tish Harrison Warren.  Let’s become aware of God’s presence.  How do we embrace the sacred in the ordinary and the ordinary in the sacred?  For six Sundays at 11:30am-ish, we will prepare to prepare the way of the Lord.
