In support of Pope Francis' messages on environmental concerns and caring for the world's poor, a candlelight vigil was held on Thursday, September 24 at 7:30pm on the Church's front lawn. Crossing denominational lines, the prayer vigil was held on the evening that the Pope's was in New York City.
As a Christian leader, Pope Francis has made it clear that we cannot ignore ecological problems and must take care of God's creation which has been entrusted to us.
It was a part of OurVoices.net's efforts to have people of all faiths give voice and action to the concerns of climate change. "Light The Way" vigils were held throughout New York City and in surrounding communities as a way to draw attention to the need for faith in environmental discussions. #LightTheWay
