Early on in my time as rector at Holy Spirit Verona I was told about a Mission Trip that Holy Spirit Verona sponsored to Grace House on the Mountain in St. Paul, VA. Although an Episcopal Church sponsored site, I was not familiar with it. Several of the Holy Spirit parishioners raved about their experience at Grace House. My second summer (2016) at Holy Spirit, we considered doing a Mission Trip, but we felt we did not have the momentum to have a decent attendance.
So, upon the advice of Mama Jane Eliasof, we booked Grace House for July 2017 in the summer of 2016. This gave a full year of planning and advertizing, in hopes to have a decent cadre of participants for our Mission Trip 2017. We ended up with twelve people signed up, and were led through two pre-travel meetings by the talented Joanna Eliasof. Here it is day six of our trip, and all I can say is WOW!
I am so grateful for this experience, and the opportunity to spend a week with these amazing eleven people. Grace House is an wonderful organization that does good works in this part of God's vineyard. I am so proud of the work our "youth" accomplished in this week. In less than three days they build a rather large deck (featured in the photo). Although hard work, the group managed several challenges and persevered to the completion of the project. Go Holy Spirit Verona 2017 Missioners!
